La Mart Hightower - Counseling and Consultation

Dr. La Mart Hightower is a Licensed Master Social Worker (LMSW) in the state of Michigan, holding both clinical and macro designations. In addition he is a Certified Advanced Alcohol and Drug Counselor. La Mart earned his Ph.D. in Human Services from Walden University in 2016. Prior to coming to Northern, La Mart worked as a clinical therapist for more than 30 years, working with individuals, families, and groups in the areas of addiction and mental health. Further, he worked as a crisis social worker evaluating and assisting patients in a hospital setting. La Mart’s areas of research are mental health, addiction, diversity, and social justice. La Mart is actively involved in the community as he serves on the Marquette Salvation Army’s Advisory Board, as well as the Board for Great Lakes Recovery. La Mart enjoys bike riding and traveling to China to spend time with his three grandchildren.
