Diversity and Inclusion Mini-Grants
The Office of Diversity and Inclusion is pleased to support the opportunity for teams of students, faculty, and staff to apply for a Diversity and Inclusion Mini-Grant.
The purpose of the Diversity and Inclusion Mini-Grants is to encourage our community members to design and implement ways to move the university toward becoming a truly diverse institution. Community, opportunity and inclusion are three of Northern’s core values. In order to encourage collaborative work among members of the university community, teams are encouraged to include students, faculty, and staff from different backgrounds and areas. While all successful applications will emphasize some aspect of diversity, applicants are encouraged to think broadly and creatively about their proposals.
The Office of Diversity and Inclusion will provide support each fiscal year by reviewing mini-grant requests, communicating decisions, and processing reimbursement or payment of the funds.
In Fall 2023, Mini-Grants have been awarded to support events such as:
The UPride Summit, a youth equity event sponsored by the NMU School of Education, Leadership, and Public Service with support from the NMU Office of Diversity and Inclusion. The event will be at the NMU Northern Center on October 10, 2023.
MBLGTACC (pronounced Mimble-tac). NMU will send students, faculty and staff to the Midwest Bisexual Lesbian Gay Transgender Asexual College Conference (MBLGTACC). MBLGTACC is the nation's largest and oldest continuously running conference for queer and trans+ college students and young adults. The conference is in Lexington, Kentucky from November 3rd through the 5th.
