Environmental Science Camp

Seaborg Center

High school students will visit campus for this unique, week-long summer camp to explore the scenic vistas and natural resources of Michigan’s Upper Peninsula!  Participants will experience firsthand how scientists incorporate technology and field research to study the changing environment by utilizing the facilities and technology of Northern Michigan University. Campers will participate in campus activities and field experiences while learning about a wide variety of environmental topics, facilitated by the Earth, Environmental, and Geographical Sciences Department.

Science Olympiad Regional Tournament

Middle and high school Science Olympiad teams from throughout the Upper Peninsula will create designs, solve problems, and learn the importance of teamwork by competing in different STEM-related events at the annual regional tournament. The top-placed teams will advance to the State tournament hosted by Michigan State University in late spring.

Camp Infinity

Seaborg Center

Camp Infinity is a week-long summer camp that introduces girls to computer and internet technologies through fun, hands-on activities designed to spark imagination and creativity.

  • Girls entering 5th–6th grade will explore programming using Ozobot Evo robots.

  • Girls entering 7th–8th grade will build critical thinking and problem-solving skills while programming a Finch 2.0 robot.

  • All participants will also learn web design by creating their own multi-page website.
