The U.S. Army will be on campus on Tuesday, November 16 from 12-3:30 p.m. in the Jamrich Hall 1100 Lobby area to offer information about their part-time service opportunities, as well as their tuition assistance program and other benefits. They have over 120 jobs to choose from! Military specialties include: Administrative support, Medical Technicians, Mechanical Specialists, Computers & Technology, Legal & Law Enforcement, Transportation & Aviation, Engineering & Construction, Arts & Media, Army Bands, Combat Engineer and Airborne/Air Assault.

The Lower Kuskokwim School District (LKSD) is an exciting and rewarding place to learn and teach in "bush" Alaska. LKSD is the largest rural school district in Alaska with 27 schools, 350 teachers, about about 4,000 Yup'ik students. The landmass of the District is about the size of West Virginia spreading along the Kuskokwim River and Bering Coast of southwest Alaska. Travel is by jet from Anchorage, and then by small plane, snowmobile or boat from Bethel to the village sites.

LKSD supports instructional staff with a robust professional development program differentiated from whole group to individually selected courses. There is a teacher mentor program that includes orientation to the local culture and learning about our curriculum.

LKSD is looking for teachers in the following areas for the 2021-2022 year:

  • Secondary Education Math

  • Secondary Education Language Arts

The Lydia M. Olson Library will be hosting a Dark Fantasy Murder Mystery event after regular hours on Friday, October 22nd, at 6:00 P.M.

The registration link for the event can be found on the Hub at: https://cglink.me/2eb/r1312709.

Upon registering for the event on the Hub, you will receive future instructions on how to choose a character in your email. Registration will open on Wednesday, October 6th and will close on Wednesday, October 20th.

There will also be a costume and character contest for participants as well. Bring out your creativity and theatrics by dressing and acting in character (Covid face masks must be a part of the costume and worn). Separate prizes for best character costumes and acting will be awarded.

NMU Wildpups - Animal Assisted Therapy

The Wildpups are a part of NMU’s new Animal Assisted Therapy program. If you miss your pup back at home or need a way to ease the anxieties that come with being a college student, the Wildpups are here to help. All are welcome to enjoy time with these licensed therapy dogs.

You will also have a volunteer opportunity to participate in research to help grow the field of Animal Assisted Therapy. Surveys will be available to fill out at the event, and those who participate are entered into a drawing to win an Amazon gift card! Registration is unlimited, and everyone is welcome to come.

Join us for the 17th Annual Construction Management and Technology Career Fair.  This concentrated recruiting event, geared specifically towards students choosing construction, electronics, and technology majors, will allow you to visit with students and alumni who are seriously considering the challenging careers related to these fields. 

This year, there will be two options for students, alumni and employers to connect.  The virtual portion of the fair will be held in the morning and our traditional in-person fair will be held in the afternoon.  All attendees will have the opportunity to attend either or both.
