Handshake is Career Services’ all-in-one web system for students, faculty, staff, employers, and alumni. 

Students and alumni job seekers can:

  1. Search and apply for jobs 24/7
  2. Manage multiple resumes, cover letters, and other employment-related documents
  3. Sign up for job fairs, interviews, and other career events
  4. Students access Handshake through: MyNMU > Student Services tab > Handshake
  5. Alumni access Handshake through: https://nmu.joinhandshake.com

Faculty/staff can:

  1. Post on-campus jobs and internships (including Graduate Assistantships)
  2. Manage and receive applications online
  3. Register for job fairs and review employer attendees
  4. Search for available jobs with your students
  5. Refer employers interested in NMU students to Career Services to post and promote opportunities in Handshake

The Lower Kuskokwim School District (LKSD) is an exciting and rewarding place to learn and teach in "bush" Alaska. LKSD is the largest rural school district in Alaska with 27 schools, 400 teachers, and about 4,000 Yup'ik students. The landmass of the District is about the size of West Virginia spreading along the Kuskokwim River and Bering Coast of southwest Alaska. Travel is by jet from Anchorage, and then by small plane, snowmobile or boat from Bethel to the village sites. 

LKSD supports instructional staff with a robust professional development program differentiated from whole group to individually selected courses. There is a teacher mentor program that includes orientation to the local culture and learning about our curriculum. 

LKSD is looking for teachers in the following areas for the 2023-2024 at the mid-year:
