You are warmly invited to a special community event hosted by WNMU-TV and Lydia M. Olson Library.

Indie Lens Pop-Up, presented by ITVS, INDEPENDENT LENS, WNMU-TV, and Olson Library, will host a free screening of “The Librarians,” followed by a panel discussion featuring Emera Bridger Wilson (Department Head of Olson Library), Dillon Geshel (Executive Director of the Michigan Library Association), and Sarah Rehborg (Youth Services Librarian at Peter White Public Library).

“The Librarians,” directed by Oscar-nominated filmmaker Kim A. Snyder and executive produced by Sarah Jessica Parker, follows a courageous network of librarians as they navigate the growing challenges of book restrictions and censorship. The film explores how these policies are shaping library collections and highlights the broader national conversation around intellectual freedom, education, and democracy.

Following the screening, our panelists will lead an engaging discussion on censorship, its impact on democracy, and the role of libraries in supporting access to information and diverse perspectives.

We hope you will join us for this timely and important conversation.

Community

U.P. FHLC is a summer camp dedicated to health education and health career exploration for incoming 9th and 10th graders across the U.P. This year’s camp is being coordinated in partnership with the Michigan State University College of Osteopathic Medicine.

Join us in July for a fun week of learning about various aspects of health, meeting health professionals, exploring simulation labs, visiting a local hospital, practicing hands-on techniques, and getting a glimpse into health care careers and campus life. Campers may choose to stay overnight in the NMU residence halls or come to camp for the day. Registration is open now and will close on May 15 or once capacity is reached (50 students).

Join The Women's Center and NMU WellBeing for Marquette’s Sexual Assault Awareness Walk as we use our voices to stand in solidarity with survivors and show our community’s commitment to safety, support, and prevention. Together, we raise awareness, stand against sexual violence, and hold perpetrators accountable.

Bring a sign, wear denim, or simply walk with us. The walk begins at Harlow Park and concludes at the Commons.

Join SHINE & EcoReps for Earth Week’s Sustainable, Upcycled Fashion Show. Show off your homemade styles for spring. There will be prizes, refreshments and a lot of inspiration for DIY designs! This event is a part of the 12th annual Anderton's Earth Week.

Come play Holi and celebrate the coming of Spring! 

Holi is the festival of colors, celebrated by Hindus around the world. Holi is played by throwing colored powder on family and friends. It marks the triumph of good over evil and uses play to challenge social norms. 

We will have colors, music, and food as long as supplies last. Wear light color clothing that you don't mind getting colorful! Everyone welcome! 

Weather dependent! If it is snowing or raining, we will reschedule!

In partnership with PEAK26 and UNITED, SHINE will be hosting the annual Campus Sustainability Summit on March 25 - 27 in the Northern Center. These events are free and open to everyone! 

Collaborating with UNITED and PEAK26 provides a dynamic conference experience that features wellness, leadership, sustainability, and equity. We invite every student, employee, and community member to learn, lead, and thrive together. 

This year's theme is Rest: Reclaiming Power Through Resilience & Resistance.

The full program includes keynote speakers, lunch buffets, invited presenters and panelists, interactive workshops, and a variety of learning experiences.

The 2026 UNITED Conference celebrates 20 years of community, collaboration, and innovation in this three-day multiconference experience hosted in partnership with the Sustainability Summit and PEAK 26 - bringing together our people, our place, and our potential under one shared vision.

Anchored in Our Compass and guided by NMU’s core values of inclusion, wellbeing, and empowerment, UNITED 2026 weaves together several cornerstone initiatives, including the Common Reader Program, the Wildcat WellBeing Fair, Poetry Without Borders, and the inaugural UNITED - KCP 4S Student Conference, into one cohesive experience. In partnership with PEAK 2026 and the Campus Sustainability Summit, these events form a dynamic ecosystem that uplifts wellness, leadership, sustainability, and equity, inviting every student, employee, and community member to learn, lead, and thrive together.

Join NAE for a night of comedy featuring Impractical Joker Sal Vulcano! The event, part of the Everything’s Fine Tour, will take place on Thursday, April 23, 2026, at Vandament Arena, with doors opening at 6:15 PM and the show beginning at 7:00 PM. Tickets are $5 for NMU students (limit one per ID) and $15 for community members, and can be purchased at tickets.nmu.edu

WAAWIYEYAA is coming to NMU's Forest Roberts Theatre on Wed. March 11 and offers a FREE performance from 7-9pm! The Anishinaabe rock-fusion band will share original music inspired by balance and harmony in creation and the name "Waawiyeyaa" which means "the circle" in Anishinaabemowin.

Attend for a chance to win door prizes!

Waawiyeyaa's members include current and former Center for Native American Studies faculty!
