Getting Here. Staying Here.
Facilites: Every day is an adventure! Embrace it!: MiAAPA 2022 Summer Conference will be held at Northern Michigan University in Marquette, Michigan, on June 29-July 1. Marquette is served by Sawyer International Airport and boasts dozens of fine hotels, as well as cottage and camping options for your stay.
Conference presentations and breakout sessions will be held in the Northern Center, at the heart of the NMU campus. While a few hotels (The Landmark Inn, Ramada Inn, and Staybridge Suites) are about a mile away and guests could walk, transportation will be needed to get to and from hotels. Rental cars are available at the airport. If camping, Tourist Park is a walkable distance from the Northern Center.
Marquette and the Upper Peninsula region is such a beautiful area, you might want to extend your stay before or after the conference. You can discover more about Marquette at travelmarquette.com.
What to pack
Average temperatures in June range from a low of 51F/11C to a high of 64F/18C. Days are often pleasant and nights are cool, so bring a variety of clothes that can be layered. Conference dress is business casual. A light jacket and sunglasses are advised for the campus tours and off-campus activities. While the summer temperature of Lake Superior is a stiff 40F/4C, some brave souls may wish to pack a swimsuit for a refreshing plunge along our miles of sandy beaches. You may want to pack comfortable walking or running shoes as well, to enjoy the city’s 12 miles of biking/walking paths or a walk around scenic Presque Isle.
