Along with the professional development presentations, there are many special events being planned for the conference, including Spouses' and children’s programs.

Thursday

MiAAPA Dinner Theatre

The conference dinner will take place Thursday evening in the ballrooms of the Northern Center. The social will begin at 5:30 p.m. and the dinner at 6:30 p.m. Following the dinner, NMU Theatre Department will present the interactive play, Clue. Come for a delicious dinner and try to determine “Who did it.”

Campus Tours:

Jamrich Hall is the university's newest and largest active-learning classroom facility completed in 2014. It was a $33.4 million State capital outlay project hosting a mix of 30 and 40 seat classrooms, 80 and 150 seat tiered classrooms and a 500 seat lecture hall as well as Starbucks. The Woods was the first public-private partnership (P3) residence hall project completed in Michigan on a university campus in 2018. The Woods consists of three residence halls, Birch, Cedar and Maple, with each hall having two buildings. These six buildings are connected to Northern Lights Dining by a central corridor.  The Woods includes a classroom, the Student Success Center (an extension of All Campus Tutoring), study spaces, and a front desk. The Ripley Plant is the university's central steam and electric plant. Ripley has two gas boilers and a combined heat and power plant with a boiler capable of burning wood chips or natural gas and a back pressure steam turbine. The CHP addition was completed in 2013 as part of a performance contract.

Golf Outing

A MiAPPA Golf Outing will take place at the NMU Golf Course, Wednesday, June 29 from 2 p.m. to 5 p.m. The cost of the golf outing is $32 per person which includes 9 holes of golf and a cart. This will be a shotgun start format.  Hole sponsor options are listed in the registration ($100 per hole). Golf Outing Is Full.

Sugar Loaf Mountain Hike

For those interested in the Sugar Loaf Mountain hike, we will meet in the NMU Northern Center parking lot #8. Click HERE for a campus map.

A bus has been chartered to drive us to Sugar Loaf Mountain that is north of Marquette. Boarding will begin at 2:00 pm. We expect to return to Northern Center between 4:00 to 5:00.

Mountain Bike Trail Ride

The ride will depart from the NMU Services Building Parking lot at 2073 Sugar Loaf Ave, Marquette, MI 49855 at 2pm on Wednesday June 29th, and ride to the Noquemanon Trails- North Trail System. We will enjoy an easy to moderately difficult ride along the Dead River Basin, and take in views of multiple waterfalls.   The terrain is relatively flat on dirt, gravel and rooty trails. The ride will be 5-8 miles depending on participants skill levels or desire to ride longer.  This will be a "no-drop" ride-- all skill levels will be respected. Expect to ride 1-1.5 hours. Spouses' and children’s programs

Wildcat Kids Camp

Wildcat Kids Camp program will be running each day of your visit. Children ages 5 years of age through 5th grade are welcome to register for individual days as space allows. Camp activities include indoor and outdoor sports and games, swimming, climbing wall, and quieter activities such as crafts, board games or movie time. Fee is $35 each day.

Recreational Opportunities

If you or family members would like to workout while on campus, we are offering free admittance to the recreation center throughout your visit. The recreation center is located within the PEIF building which is connected to the Superior Dome. Open recreation hours can be found here.
