Ann Crandell-Williams

Ann is originally from the Eastern Upper Peninsula (Brimley) and has lived in the Harvey area for the past 19 years. She is married and is a proud, adoptive and biological parent of five children, ages 7 to 32 years. When not coaching volleyball at Marquette Senior High School or acting as a taxi for her kids, Ann enjoys cooking, gardening, golf, and reading. She has years of social work experience, working primarily with adolescent youth but also in mental health and criminal justice settings. She has facilitated training workshops locally and nationally on various topics, primarily related to working with adolescents and sexual aggression. Ann is a licensed social worker in the state of Michigan, holding both clinical and macro designations.  She is a member of the National Association of Social Workers.  

Ann practiced social work for eighteen years prior to coming to NMU, having primarily worked in child welfare, mental health, and criminal justice fields.  Ann received her Bachelor's degree in Human Services from Lake Superior State University, and her Master of Social Work degree from Michigan State University. She is a licensed masters social worker (LMSW) with clinical and macro specializations. She is an active member of the National Association of Social Workers.  As a social work faculty member, Ann primarily teaches undergraduate practice and human behavior courses.  Ann's research agenda primarily focuses on preparing newly qualified social workers for the field.
