Product Requirements

The 26th Annual Celebration of Student Scholarship event be a hybrid event, with both virtual and in-person formats. Posters are the only in-person product type.

All scholarly work must meet our requirements in order to be compatible with the online platform we are using. Please see the guidelines below to make sure the scholarly work you are submitting meets product requirements. 

Posters submitted by the deadline will be judged for awards. Entries will be judged on content, clarity, and the quality of visual display. Winners will be announced in advance and celebrated at the Celebration Opening Ceremony.

Posters

  • Posters size must be 48" (wide) x 36" (high) 
  • Students submitting a poster should be prepared to discuss their work, including their research design, methods, process, and findings. 
  • Download a template for the 48" x 36" PowerPoint slide. You are not required to use this template but please note that your PowerPoint canvas size must be 48" x 36". 
  • NMU Printing will print and deliver your poster to the event venue. The first 25 students to submit FINAL poster files to Printing Services will have their printing costs sponsored by the College of Graduate Studies and Research. Students may choose to print posters off campus.
  • Submit posters to Printing Services no later than 11:59 p.m. Sunday April 10, 2022. 

Oral Presentations

  • The time limit for recorded oral presentations is 10 minutes. 
  • Use of visuals for your presentation is not required, but highly recommended. Visuals (a slideshow, an item related to your research, movements exemplifying your topic, etc.) will improve your presentation quality and viewer experience.

Art Work

  • Digital files for art pieces should be high resolution, no less than 1024 pixels wide for a horizontal image; or 768 pixels high for vertical. 
  • Submit artwork as a PNG (Portal Network Graphic) file. 
  • If you prefer a video file is used to present your artwork, follow oral presentation requirements above. 

Essay or Creative Written Work

  • Essays or creative writing work are limited to 5 pages with 1" margins, no smaller than 12 pt. font.
  • Submit work as a DOCX (Microsoft Word Document) format. 
  • Include a title page with your name, major/department, and the name and department of your faculty advisor. OPTIONAL: you may also include social media or a website for people to follow your work. Title page and reference list (if applicable) do not count toward the 5-page limit.
