What is the CARE Team?

The CARE Team is a service provider that prides itself on being a free resource for students in need of support, furthering NMU’s ongoing commitment to wellbeing. The CARE Team is not a disciplinary entity. Students who get referred to the CARE Team don’t get in trouble, they get help.

CARE Team Referral

What is the NMU CARE Team?
The NMU CARE Team is a group of dedicated professionals with expertise in student affairs, academic support, mental and physical health, student conduct, and campus safety. Their mission is to provide support services for students who may be struggling academically, emotionally, or psychologically.

How the CARE Team Helps
The CARE Team uses a collaborative case management approach to help students identify challenges, set goals, and create actionable plans to overcome obstacles. They serve as a resource hub, connecting students with NMU programs and departments that can best address their needs.

What to Expect
When working with the CARE Team:

Initial Meeting: Share your situation. Team members will ask open-ended questions to better understand your circumstances and desired outcomes.
Goal Setting: Together, you’ll outline specific goals and develop a tailored plan of action.
Support and Follow-Up: The CARE Team will check in regularly to monitor your progress and provide ongoing support.
Case Closure: Once your goals are met and you’re satisfied with the outcome, the case is closed.

The CARE Team is there to support you, but your involvement is key! The more you engage, the more effective the partnership will be. And remember: You can always reach out again if new challenges arise.
