What is the CARE Team?
The CARE Team is a service provider that prides itself on being a free resource for students in need of support, furthering NMU’s ongoing commitment to wellbeing. The CARE Team is not a disciplinary entity. Students who get reffered to the CARE Team don’t get in trouble, they get help.

Who is CARE Team?
The CARE Team is a team of personnel with expertise in student affairs, academic affairs, mental and physical health, student conduct, and campus safety whose mission is to provide support services for vulnerable students who may be struggling.
How does CARE Team help?
The CARE Team uses a case management system to work with students to ensure that problems are identified, plans to address them are made and solutions are achieved through an active partnership between the CARE Team and the client.
NMU offers a myriad of resources and programs, and the CARE Team is there to help people who need support navigate them.

What is it?
CARE Team members meet with students who may be struggling academically, emotionally or psychologically, and ask open-ended questions about their situation.
CARE Team members work with clients to understand their desired outcomes, and develop a plan of action to achieve them together - including connecting them with any NMU Department that might be helpful.
CARE Team members follow up with the client to monitor progress and, once they reach a solution, that case is closed!
What to expect
With the NMU CARE Team, you get out what you put in. They are there to support you, but they can only help if they know what you need help with!
After you share your situation with the CARE Team, expect them to be a collaborative partner in setting specific goals and laying out a framework for you to achieve them.
Once you have a plan, it’s up to you to follow it!
The CARE Team will check in and help track your progress to ensure you’re progressing. We know: You’ve got this!
Once you’re satisfied, you’re all set! You can always reach out to the CARE Team for any future issue.
