NMU's psychologists and counselors provide individual counseling, group counseling, and psycho-educational presentations. Emotional crisis appointments are available daily for urgent support.

The NMU Health Center is located in the WellBeing Center located on Lincoln Avenue by the Northern Lights Dining Facility and provides a variety of medical, pharmacy and laboratory services to current NMU students.

*The Health Center can refer students to a psychiatrist.

NMU Case Management Services

Northern Michigan University Case Management is a strength-based, holistic program that seeks to support students in overcoming obstacles and reducing distress. We offer this support through well-trained, experienced staff who offer support and direction to all students. Our non-clinical case managers are a listening ear to offer guidance in understanding and coping with stress.

Health Advocate

For assistance after 5:00 p.m. Monday through Friday, and on weekends, you may call HealthAdvocate and talk to a licensed counselor. NMU provides this service at no cost to enrolled students

Therapy Online Assistance

TAO helps students work though issues such as anxiety, resilience, depression, relationship problems and substance issues. To register and download the app, go to: nmu.edu/counselingandconsultation.

Medical Insurance

Medical insurance is highly recommended for all students. Find out if your current insurance will be easy to use in Marquette, and how to obtain additional coverage if necessary.
