Case Management Services

Northern Michigan University Case Management is a strength-based, holistic program that seeks to support students in overcoming obstacles and reducing distress. We offer this support through well-trained, experienced staff who offer support and direction to all students.

Our non-clinical case managers are a listening ear to offer guidance in understanding and coping with stress. We provide the following services to students:

  • Setting SMART goals and advocating to remove barriers to achieving them
  • Expanding your support by building connections to NMU & community resources
  • Building your tools and skills for complete wellbeing

During the academic year, our office hours are from 8:00 am to 5:00 pm weekdays, and we are available during these hours to support you. We look forward to working with you to get back on track to feeling successful and whole in all areas of your life!

I got my masters in Counseling at the University of Wisconsin and then worked in the K-12 education system for 12 years before transitioning to the university level of student support. I love hiking, biking, running, reading, painting and gardening. I am a proud momma to an ever-growing flock of chickens and two beautiful children.

Schedule: Monday - Friday 8 am - 5 pm

I’ve worked at NMU in multiple capacities, including as an Academic and Success Advisor, a Residence Hall Director, and an Admissions Counselor. Each position has centered on supporting students.

After graduating with my BS, I came to NMU to work as a Residence Hall Director. I thought I’d do that for a couple of years and move on. This quickly turned into five years before moving over to the Admissions Office. After earning my masters in School Guidance Counseling here at NMU, I realized that working in Higher Ed was where I wanted to remain. The past 9 years prior to beginning my role as Case Manager, I’ve served as an academic advisor helping students navigate their academic programs.

Outside of work, I enjoy exploring the UP (especially looking for beach glass), taking pictures, and going to NMU sporting events with my family. I also enjoy volunteering in the community at a variety of events.
