NMU Resource Showcase
Gemini
NMU is pleased to announce that Gemini, a powerful generative AI tool, is now available to all NMU employees and students.
We encourage you to explore Gemini and discover how it can enhance your work and creative projects. Gemini can assist with tasks like drafting emails, brainstorming ideas, summarizing information, and more.
You’ll find the Gemini app included with the other Google Apps within your Gmail (click on the nine-dot square in the upper right of your Gmail screen).
NotebookLM
Additionally, the NotebookLM app is now available to you at the link below.
NotebookLM is an AI-powered note-taking and research assistant developed by Google. It's designed to help users understand, organize, and generate new insights from complex information.
Instead of searching the entire internet, NotebookLM focuses on the sources you provide. You upload your own documents – such as PDFs, Google Docs, websites, YouTube videos, and even audio files – and the app becomes an "expert" on that specific content.
Adobe Express and Firefly
NMU students and most faculty and staff, have access to premium Adobe Express accounts. Adobe Express integrates with Firefly by providing generative AI-powered features directly within the design platform. Firefly’s AI capabilities, such as text-to-image generation, generative fill, and text effects, are embedded into Adobe Express, allowing users to create unique visuals quickly.
The images on this website were made using Adobe Firefly and Photoshop!

NMU AI Discussion Forum
Artificial intelligence is rapidly shaping education, research, and administrative processes. To help faculty and staff stay ahead of these changes, NMU’s AI Workgroup has launched the NMU AI Discussion Forum, a campus-wide listserv designed to foster conversations about the opportunities and challenges of AI in higher education and beyond.
Members will regularly receive a discussion topic along with a related article, video, or resource to spark conversation. Joining the forum is a great way to stay informed, share insights, and connect with colleagues who are also navigating AI’s impact on education and society. Thoughtful, respectful dialogue is encouraged, making this a welcoming space for all perspectives.
Sign up today by going to NMU AI Discussion Forum Instructions and be part of the conversation shaping the future of AI at NMU!
