Our TV Studios
CAMS students gain hands-on broadcasting experience through two major regional stations housed right here in Marquette. WNMU-TV PBS, NMU’s nonprofit, non-commercial public television station, has served the Upper Peninsula and northeast Wisconsin since 1972, producing beloved local programs such as Ask the Doctors, Media Meet, and High School Bowl alongside national PBS favorites. Students also work with WZMQ TV-19, Marquette’s CBS affiliate and one of the area’s newest live-broadcast stations, contributing to news, sports, and production while learning directly from industry professionals. Together, these partnerships give students real-world media experience and the opportunity to tell stories that connect the U.P. and beyond.
Radio Station: RadioX
Radio X is NMU’s student-run radio station, broadcasting creativity, music, and personality across campus and beyond. Founded in 1970 and FCC-regulated for over 50 years, WUPX gives students the freedom to host talk shows, play music, run live events, and experiment with original programming all while gaining real-world media experience. Open to students from any major, Radio X is more than a station- it’s a community where voices are heard, creativity thrives, and penguins named Earl keep watch.
Mac Lab and Classroom
TFA318 is home to CAMS Mac Lab and Classroom space. Thanks to a generous donation from an alum we're able to offer engaged hands-on production courses. With dozens of stations available and a wide array of open hours, students in the department are also able to use the lab to work on projects, produce podcasts, edit video and film, and much much more.
