Flipbook Accessibility Pattern

When using a Flipsnack flipbook on an NMU web page, it is important to follow accessibility best practices to ensure this flipbook and be used by all audiences. The example below shows how to embed the flipbook and populate the caption to ensure an accessible alternative is provided. Please keep in mind the following requirements when following this pattern:

  • Ensure that the PDF provided as an accessible alternative has been tested for PDF accessibility.
  • The caption provided on all flipbook cards has an Aria Labeled-by tag associated with it. For that reason, a caption should always be used when embedding a flipbook.
  • An accessible version of the text can be provided directly into the Flipsnack interface. This provides an additional way for users to interact with the text of the flipook but does not provide an accessible alternative to images within the book.
  • More information about Flipsnack accessibility can be found on the flipsnack website: How to make your flipbooks accessible in Flipsnack.
