Graduate Program Director Role

NMU's graduate program directors (GPDs) serve to oversee and administer graduate programs. This role is different in different departments and disciplines, but share common tasks such as overseeing student admission reporting, promoting and organizing the graduate program, and communicating needs and issues with the College of Graduate Studies.

GPD Systems Access

Xtender - The internal NMU filing system. This is where student admissions documents are stored and can be accessed by GPDs and designated departmental employees. For assistance viewing documents in Xtender, contact the Grad Studies at x2300. For access or larger Xtender training and questions, contact Genevieve Morgan, Business Intelligence, at x1254.

ESP: NMU's student success platform. Advisees and students assigned to the GPD can be viewed here. Future enrollment can be tracked, notes made, and alerts raised if student concerns are communicated. ESP is managed by the Student Success Team, but GPDs can contact the College of Graduate Studies with usage questions.

Banner - NMU’s student record system. Banner is administered by the Registrar's Office.

GPD Google Drive - Shared document drive managed by the College of Graduate Studies. For access, GPDs can request through graduate@nmu.edu.

Decision Screen - Application used to send and provide information to admissions decision-makers. Once student applications are complete (both CGSR and program requirements are met), the application and information will be emailed to the GPD for an admission decision. This is managed by Business Intelligence, but GPDs should contact the College of Graduate Studies with immediate questions.
