Applications for graduate faculty status must be completed and submitted to the Graduate Programs Committee (GPC) for review.

Graduate Advisor Training
Graduate faculty serve as the advisors and mentors for graduate students. Graduate advisor status is registered through the College of Graduate Studies.

Graduate Programs Committee
The Graduate Programs Committee (GPC) is a NMU Faculty Senate subcommittee.
GPC is responsible for all matters related to graduate programs, including the following primary activities:
(a) review and development of criteria for new graduate courses and programs,
(b) appointment and removal of graduate faculty,
(c) consideration of student requests for exceptions to certain graduate policies,
(d) review of Excellence in Education award applications, and
(e) assessment and analysis of Graduate Bulletin changes prior to the Dean of Graduate Studies and Research. The policy manual and bylaws describe the duties of the committee. Faculty members interested in serving on the Graduate Programs Committee should contact the College of Graduate Studies and Research at graduate@nmu.edu.
