West End Suicide Prevention

LIVE@NMU is an outcome of West End Suicide Prevention.  West End Suicide Prevention (WESP) was born out of a three-year initiative funded by the Marquette County Health Department and facilitated by Great Lakes Recovery Centers.  WESP's goals was to help prevent suicide in youth ages 10 - 24 in Ishpeming.  In 2019, the group developed the LIVE campaign and soon thereafter expanded to suicide prevention coalition for all people on the west end of Marquette County.  In 2020, grant funding was received to take the LIVE campaign across the UP.  In 2022, students, faculty and staff asked WESP to bring LIVE specifically to NMU's campus.
