LIVE@NMU understands the importance of promoting the many trainings that are offered on campus and in the community.  Due to the variety of trainings that are offered, there is something for everyone.

QPR -- Question, Persuade, Refer

QPR is a one-hour evidence-based suicide prevention training.  Participants will learn signs of suicide. They will also learn how to ask the Question, Persuade someone to stay alive and how and where to Refer them to get the help they need.

QPR will be offered each semester. Join one of the schedule QPR sessions or request one for your group, class or organization by emailing ampoirie@nmu.edu.  An expanded form of QPR can also be presented.  This version shares a short video, featuring individuals from the UP talking about how suicide has impacted their lives.

Mental Health & SUD Trainings

Trainings that focus on mental health and substance use disorder are gathered on a regular basis.  The trainings range from webinars to local workshops and conferences, to conferences out of the area.  Some are free, and others have a charge associated with them.  The trainings are meant for individuals with a variety of backgrounds -- some being appropriate for the general public and others requiring advanced credentials.  These trainings are emailed out on a monthly basis to individuals who are interested in them.  If you know of a training that should be added to the list or if you would like to receive the list each month, please send an email to:  ampoirie@nmu.edu.
