Welcome, online and distance education learners. We are pleased that you are interested in pursuing education through Northern Michigan University's Global Campus. You are the 21st-century university students and as such you have different needs and wants about how and where to learn. Our goal is to meet your learning and service needs at the same high standard we do for on-campus students. Transferring Credit
Maybe you've completed an associate degree or taken a few courses from another institution before enrolling at NMU. Whether you have already completed the coursework and want to know how it will transfer, or are looking to plan out additional coursework before transferring, the resources in the link below should be able to assist you. If you have completed or are completing courses at a Michigan school, additional transfer resources are available through the Michigan Transfer Network website.
Military Friendly
Northern Michigan University ranks 2nd among small public schools nationwide that have been designated 2020-21 Military Friendly Schools by VIQTORY Media. This is Northern's third-consecutive appearance in the Top 10 and its highest placement and is the only Michigan institution in the Top 10 rankings for that category. Read more here.
Online Tutoring
In addition to NMU’s online resources from the Olson Library, the NMU Global Campus partners with TutorMe Instant Online Tutoring to offer:
- 24/7 access
- Matching with a tutor in an avg. 30 seconds
- Vide0 and/or audio sessions
- Expert tutors in over 300 subjects
- Submit papers for editing with TutorMe's Writing Lab
- 15-120 minute sessions, six times each week
The State Authorization Reciprocity Agreement (SARA) is "an agreement among member states, districts and territories that establishes comparable national standards for interstate offering of post-secondary distance education courses and programs. It is intended to make it easier for students to take online courses offered by post-secondary institutions based in another state.
