Sustainable Business in France

Learn about Sustainable Business in France this Summer! This is a full, 4-credit course (meets the University’s General Education requirement for Social Responsibility in a Diverse World) and it will contain all of the same content and assignments that a student would complete in a regular semester, except we will spend 9 days of our summer session learning about the course concepts in practice in France.

Applications are due to the International Programs Office by December 2 by 5 p.m. Apply here.

Arrive in Paris at the Charles De Gaulle airport by 2 p.m. on Friday, May 30. Together we’ll tour parts of Europe’s most sustainable business district, home to more than 500 multinational company headquarters – Paris La Defense. From the business district it is a short walk to the Arc de Triumph and the Effiel Tower.

On Sunday (June 1), we’ll take a (3-hour) train ride from the bustling commerce capital through the Loire Valley to the Auvergene-Rhone-Alps region, to Clermont-Ferrand. While in Clermont-Ferrand, we’ll be guests at the University of Clermont-Auvergne’s IAE School of Management. With our hosts, we’ll visit the Michelin and Volvic Water world headquarters and learn about regional small business specialties. We’ll learn how science and history influence a sustainable business landscape when we climb the Puy de Dome volcano.

Our field trip will conclude in Lyon, ranked 7th in the world and first in France in the Global Destination Sustainability (GDS) Index. We’ll learn (and experience) how accessibility, diversity and inclusion are critical to a sustainable tourism and business ecosystem.

On Sunday, June 8, we’ll take a high-speed train back to Paris.
