Thomas Fine Arts
This facility serves students specializing in Communication and Media Studies, Theatre and Dance, and Music. Courses in electronic journalism, media studies, speech communication and theatre are often offered in the Thomas Fine Arts Building.
Music facilities include two large rehearsal rooms, a small chamber ensemble room, three classrooms, 28 practice rooms, an electronic piano lab, and studio offices. Many of the practice rooms are Wenger studios (manufactured by the company that set the standard for music industry facilities), and the percussion ensemble room is one of the largest Wenger studios ever built. Faculty offices for the Department of Music, the Communications and Media Studies Department (CAMS), and the Theatre and Dance Department are located in the Thomas Fine Arts Building.
The building is connected to the Forest Roberts Theatre and the McClintock building and has a skywalk extending to C.B. Hegdcock. It is named for Russell Thomas, who was head of the English Department at Northern for 24 years.
