Brigitte R. LaPointe-Dunham

Brigitte LaPointe-Dunham is the CEO for the Keweenaw Bay Indian Community (KBIC), a position she has held since July 2021.  In her role, she oversees all Government operations for the tribe.  She grew up on the L’Anse Indian reservation and is an enrolled member of the KBIC.

An NMU alum, LaPointe-Dunham earned a bachelor’s degree in sports science in 2009,  a master’s certificate in performance improvement-training and development in 2012, and a master’s in exercise science in 2015.  She also holds a master’s degree in management, strategy, and leadership from Michigan State University, and a certificate from Harvard Business School in leading people and investing to build sustainable communities.

LaPointe-Dunham lives in Baraga with her wife, Mariah, and her daughter, Amya.  She was appointed to the Northern Michigan University Board of Trustees by Governor Gretchen Whitmer on February 2, 2023, for a term beginning February 3, 2023 and continuing until December 31, 2030.  She succeeds Tami M. Seavoy whose term ended December 31, 2022.
