Gregory J. Seppanen

Greg Seppanen is a retired teacher who taught U.S. History, Government, World History, and Economics in the Marquette Public Schools for 24 years. Seppanen has 27 years of experience as a Marquette County Commissioner and Chocolay Township supervisor, and has been a member of the U.S. Army Presidential Honor Guard.  He has served on the Upper Peninsula Regional Labor Federation for a number of years and was inducted into the U.P. Labor Hall of Fame in 2023.  He is a founding member of the regional Climate Adaptation Task Force, and has served on many regional and local planning bodies for the last 40 years.

Seppanen holds a Bachelor of Science in History and Geography from Northern Michigan University and attended trade skill training in welding at the Northern Michigan University Skill Center.

Seppanen, of Marquette, was appointed to the Board of Trustees by Governor Gretchen Whitmer on December 28, 2020 for a term beginning January 1, 2021 and continuing until December 31, 2028. Seppanen succeeds James K. Haveman whose term expired December 31, 2020.
