Melissa A. Holmquist

Missie Holmquist is the President and CEO of Upper Peninsula Health Plan (UPHP) in Marquette. Working at UPHP for over 20 years, her promotions included positions in claims, utilization management, operations, and government programs. She was named Chief Operating Officer before assuming her current role as CEO in 2018. Holmquist was appointed as Secretary of the Medicaid Health Plans Board of Directors in 2020, current board member of InvestUP, appointed Treasurer of the Michigan Association of Health Plans in 2022, and is a member of Marquette Ambassadors. She was named one of Crain’s 2020 Notable Women in Health. Holmquist is a 2002 and 2004 alum of Northern Michigan University graduating with a Bachelor of Science in Psychology and a Master of Arts in Education.
Holmquist lives in Marquette with her husband and son. She was appointed to the Northern Michigan University Board of Trustees by Governor Gretchen Whitmer on February 18, 2022, for a term beginning February 18, 2022 and continuing until December 31, 2026. She succeeds Donna L. Murray-Brown who resigned when she moved out of state.
