Steven W. Lindberg

Steve Lindberg was a public-school teacher and guidance counselor for thirty years, twenty-eight of those years in the Marquette Public School system.  After retiring from this role, he served the maximum three terms (2007 – 2012) as a Michigan State Representative, (D) 109th District.  Lindberg served as Chair of the Labor Committee and was a member of the following committees during his tenure:  education; energy and technology; labor; tourism; and outdoor recreation and natural resources.  He is well-respected wildlife photographer in Marquette.

An NMU alum, Lindberg earned a bachelor’s degree in education in 1966, and completed a master of arts in education (MAE) in 1978.

Lindberg lives in Marquette with his wife, Paulette.  He was appointed to the Northern Michigan University Board of Trustees by Governor Gretchen Whitmer on February 2, 2023, for a term beginning February 3, 2023 and continuing until December 31, 2028.  He succeeds Jason T. Morgan who resigned to begin his term as a Michigan State Representative (D), 23rd District.
