Description |
Registration under the Act is accomplished by the filing of an initial statement together with the required exhibits and the filing of a supplemental statement at intervals of 6 months for the duration of the principal-agent relationship requiring registration. An agent must file with the Department of Justice any informational materials distributed on the behalf of the foreign principal to two or more persons in the United States within 48 hours of distribution. Requires persons acting as agents of foreign principals in a political or quasi-political capacity to make periodic public disclosure of their relationship with the foreign principal, as well as activities, receipts and disbursements in support of those activities. The FARA Registration Unit of the Counterespionage Section (CES) in the National Security Division (NSD) is responsible for the administration and enforcement of the Act. |
