| Description |
The Code of Federal Regulations (21 CFR56 and 45CFR46) has established membership criteria for the Institutional Review Board. In accordance with these regulations, the NMU IRB shall be composed of at least five (5) members with varying backgrounds to promote complete and adequate review of research activities by the institution. The IRB shall be sufficiently qualified through the experience and expertise of its members and through the diversity of its members based upon consideration of the racial and cultural backgrounds of members and their sensitivity to issues such as understanding community attitudes and promoting respect for IRB advice and counsel in safeguarding the rights and welfare of human subjects. |
