Come learn more about the STARS sustainability audit and NMU’s latest "silver" rating. 

The Sustainability, Tracking, Assessment & Rating System (STARS) of the Association for the Advancement of Sustainability in Higher Education (AASHE) focuses on institution achievements through: academics, engagement, operations, planning and administration, and innovation and leadership.

Since the last audit, NMU included sustainability in the University's strategic plan, added three new academic programs, launched the green fund, installed solar panels, and reduced our carbon footprint and overall resource use. Bring your ideas to help get NMU closer to a gold rating.

This Q&A session is your opportunity to get answers to these and any other questions pertaining to the event. Join us in person at 4pm in Jamrich 1315 or via zoom.

Last year, February 24, 2022, Russia invaded Ukraine. Three scholars will share their perspectives on this war. Steven Nystrom will provide an update on the status of this war. Petra Hendrickson will discuss human rights violations. Robert Kulisheck will discuss the war in the context of broader international relations.

Panel presentation by First-Gen faculty and staff who will share some of their experiences as First-Gen students. This will be interesting, entertaining, and educational! You’ll feel less alone after you listen to the stories; presenters will also share what they learned about succeeding in college.

Drop into Jamrich 1318 on Tuesdays from 1-3p, and Wednesdays from 2-4p to have a free cup of coffee, and mingle, study, or ask a question of the first-gen staff who will be there. 

This is meant to be a campus hang-out spot just for you! (We will have the same location and times through the end of the Fall ’22 semester and hope to have some informal talks on subjects you want.)

You are a first-gen student if neither of your parents has a bachelor's degree. Over 35% of NMU students are first-gen!

Thursday, October 20, from 10-2 p.m.  Career Services & Alumni relations will be in the Jamrich Hall Lobby area to offer information about the Alumni Mentor Program " WHO BETTER TO ADVISE ON GETTING THE MOST OUT OF YOUR NMU DEGREE THAN SOMEONE WHO HAS ALREADY SUCCESSFULLY DONE IT?"
