What were your favorite moments as an undergrad at NMU?

So many! Staying up late & studying in the Lodge and hanging out with my friends, playing jeopardy and grab the marker games with ASL club, signing the national anthem at a hockey game with ASL club, attending hockey games, training in my research lab (CABIN lab) on new studies & especially training with the EEG cap!

What were your favorite moments as a Languages, Literatures and International Studies student?

Tutoring ASL students and learning new signs and meeting other ASL students! And also bonding with other ASL students at ASL club & being able to sign the national anthem at hockey games and signing “Brown Bear Brown Bear” with the Lake Superior signers 4H SPIN program and at the Children’s Museum!

What will you miss most about being an NMU student?

The people I’ve met along the way!

Did your classes in LLIS ever feature an interesting project, guest speaker, or something that impacted you?

In either ASL 1 or 2, we heard from a Deaf-Blind author. It was interesting hearing about her experiences and gave me a new thought process into ethics and their challenges that are faced in scientific research.

What is your favorite place to visit abroad?

France!

If you met an incoming student, what advice would you give them?

Don’t be afraid to get involved in clubs/research labs and meet new people! It’s the best thing you can do starting at NMU!
