Tutors are available for assistance with homework questions, essay review, test prep, and conversation practice.

No. Tutoring is available on a first come, first served basis. As tutors for each language are limited, it is important that you review the tutoring schedule before your visiting the Language Resource Center, as well as receiving online tutoring. If you need to review an assignment with a tutor, please be sure to leave yourself plenty of time before the assignment due date.

In-person tutoring: No. If Northern cancels classes due to inclement weather, our in-person tutoring shifts in the Language Resource Center are also canceled.

Virtual tutoring: Yes. Unless otherwise noted, virtual tutoring will still be available if classes are canceled due to inclement weather.

Please email us at llis@nmu.edu and provide a brief explanation of the situation.

If you forgot to log your hours in UltraTime and it is past the timeframe to submit for that payroll period, tutors must do the following:

  1. Complete the Late Student/Temp Time Sheet. This document can be found on Human Resources' UltraTime page. Please follow the instructions on the form.
  2. Once you've completed and signed the Late Student/Temp Time Sheet, you will need Dr. Ulland's signature for the supervisor section. You can either email her the form or drop it off at the LLIS Office in 145 Whitman.
  3. Once Dr. Ulland has reviewed and signed the Late Student/Temp Time Sheet, she will email the form to Payroll for processing.
