Major & minor: Spanish major & Chemistry minor

Reflecting on my time at NMU, I’d say that my experience there had a profound impact on both my personal and professional development. Majoring in Spanish was especially transformative, as it deepened my language proficiency and cultural understanding. The opportunity to study abroad was a highlight of my college experience, inspiring me so much that I decided to move to Spain for a year after graduation. This time abroad broadened my perspective and reinforced my adaptability and appreciation for diverse cultures.

Initially, I planned to go to medical school, but after job shadowing and volunteering, I realized it wasn’t the right path for me. Being able to deeply explore potential professions while still in undergrad allowed me to realize a clinical setting is not right for me and explore other options.

After studying abroad, I began working for the University of Utah as an Admissions Counselor, a role I secured by leveraging my previous experience as a tour guide in the NMU Admission Office. This position allowed me to apply my communication and organizational skills while fostering connections with prospective students.

Currently, I work as a Healthcare Recruiter and Account Manager, where the adaptability, cultural awareness, and communication skills I developed at NMU continue to be essential. Being a member of the honors program greatly enhanced my written and verbal communication skills, along with other "soft skills" which proved beneficial as I charted a new course for my career.

While the connection between my major and my career path has evolved over time, the foundational skills and perspectives I gained at NMU have been a launchpad for growth, helping me approach new roles and responsibilities with a unique, well-rounded perspective.
