Welcome to Northern Michigan University!
All new first year and transfer students planning to enroll in courses at NMU are required to participate in the New Student Orientation Program. Students will be able to finalize their block schedule once they attend an orientation session.
Our NMU Orientation program is being provided online for Winter 2021 and Summer 2021, in an effort to keep attendees and campus staff safe and healthy while adhering to CDC guidelines. You will meet current students who are members of our orientation staff team. You will talk with your assigned academic adviser to complete your schedule. You will learn about various offices and what resources are available to you at Northern Michigan University. You will also have the opportunity to learn and ask questions about housing, financial aid, dining on campus, finding a job, and joining a student organization. We want you to feel at home during your time at NMU and part of making Northern your home-away-from-home starts at orientation.
I encourage you to register for an orientation session as soon as possible as the sessions fill up quickly. Once you have registered for a session, you can expect to hear from us periodically via e-mail. Please do not provide us with your high school email address, as those are generally deactivated after your graduation.
As your session draws near, please pay attention to the email account you provided to us during your registration. We will contact you via email with updates and links to our Zoom content. Contact us if you have any questions or need any other help regarding your orientation experience.
