Dr. Barch will provide an overview of social cognitive research that he and his team of undergraduate/graduate student research assistants have been working on in his lab at Northern Michigan University. Focus will be placed on describing the theories, as well experimental and applied research, which grew into the ACORN Project. Current directions and plans of the ACORN Project will then be shared with an emphasis on an applied study aimed at facilitating general wellness in NMU students through an intervention to increase ACORN targets of Autonomy, Competence, Optimism, Relatedness, and Nature experience.
