Sustainability Demonstration Area Update
The area behind Woodland Park apartments is currently being developed to showcase sustainability projects on campus. Throughout Summer 2025, several exciting developments enhanced the space and its connection to campus sustainability efforts.
Solar Panel Relocation: The solar panels formerly located behind the SHINE building on Presque Isle Avenue have been successfully relocated to Woodland Park. These panels now help power the Woodland Park Apartments, supporting NMU’s commitment to renewable energy.

Welcome Anna Solberg, MI Healthy Climate Corps - Climate Action Coordinator!
We are happy to welcome Anna Solberg as the MI Healthy Climate Corps’ Climate Action Coordinator at Northern Michigan University! Anna moved back to Marquette from Pennsylvania, where she worked in community engagement for the Conservation Voters of Pennsylvania and PennFuture. Anna is an NMU alumni who graduated in 2015 with a Bachelor’s in Environmental Studies and Sustainability with a minor in Art and Design.
