Opportunities at NMU

Student Cybersecurity Association

The Student Cybersecurity Association (SCA) is an excellent extracurricular activity for students interested in learning more about Cybersecurity. The SCA participates in a wide variety of events that range from developing skills in Ethical Hacking to actively participating in Capture the Flag Competitions. The SCA meets roughly once a week (currently on Zoom). Any interested students can send The Student Cybersecurity Association an email.

Security Operations Center

The Upper Peninsula Cybersecurity Institute has provided a one of a kind opportunity for students. Working with the NMU and NovaSoc, students have an opportunity to work in a SOC right on campus! This security operations center focuses on monitoring real and live clients while providing students valuable career skills. The SOC at the UPCI officially opened in February 2020. All students at Northern Michigan University can apply.
