Assistant Director of Admissions: Post-baccalaureate and Re-entry Students

Hometown:

Winthrop Harbor, IL

Professional/Personal Biography:

I started at NMU in 2013, and I have called the U.P. my home ever since. I graduated with a bachelor’s degree in Multimedia Journalism in 2017 after changing my major five times. After graduation, I worked at a local television station before deciding to return to NMU and work towards a Master’s degree in Higher Education and Student Affairs. I was the graduate assistant in the Admissions Office before being hired full-time as a campus-based admissions counselor.

Most Memorable College Experience:

My two and a half years as a resident adviser for Mt. Olympus House was definitely the most memorable part of my undergraduate experience. I was able to make really strong connections with my residents, and I'm still great friends with some of them today! The job, my co-workers and my residents frequently pushed me out of my comfort zone and I learned invaluable lessons - how to work with others and how important it is to try new things (like kayaking in mid-October, and yes, I fell in... twice!).

Favorite Marquette Activity:

Grabbing coffee at one of Marquette's local coffee shops or eating slices from Main Street Pizza after a nice walk around Presque Isle Park. Bonus points if it's in the fall!

Best advice you received regarding college or would give someone else enter college:

Don't be afraid to ask for help, whether that be from professors, resident advisers/directors, supervisors or even random students on campus. Especially at NMU, these people are pretty friendly and want to see you succeed! Plus, asking for help could create connections that could turn into friendships, mentorships, job/internship opportunities or letters of recommendation for the future!
