All Campus Events

There are so many opportunities to go beyond the classroom. From attending guest lectures, rocking out to your favorite performer at an on-campus concert, or volunteering as a part of Make a Difference Day, NMU will give you plenty of opportunities to meet new people, make lifelong memories, and round out your educational experience.

Cultural Events

Productions by the NMU Theatre and Dance take place throughout the semesters. NMU also hosts an art gallery and art museum on campus.

The Great Outdoors

NMU's Recreation Center offers a number of day and weekend activities in the summer and winter. Equipment such as cross-country skis, snowshoes, tents, backpacks, canoes, sleeping bags, kayaks and gaiters can be loaned from the center daily or for the entire weekend.

The Great Indoors

Sheltered, bug-free fun. Try indoor climbing at NMU's PEIF (physical education instructional facility, usually called the PEIF rhymes with "beef") or take a walk in the Superior Dome. The PEIF recreation area includes an eight-lane lap pool, diving tank, seven racquetball and walleyball courts, 1,450 square-foot climbing wall, basketball/volleyball courts, indoor tennis courts, rowing machines, treadmills and much more. The PEIF also offers aerobics, yoga and weight classes.

Clubs and Classes

Student organizations and sport clubs such as Professional Ski Instructors of America and Crew Club are just some of many clubs you can join. There are also classes you can take to get involved, such as HP 238: Winter Camping or HP 233: Snowshoeing (for more information check your NMU Undergraduate Bulletin). In the summer, classes such as HP222: Hiking or HP213: Sea Kayaking are great to get to know Marquette's surrounding wilderness areas in a safe way.

“As a young actor looking for a creative and supportive environment, I can't think of a better place than NMU’s Theatre and Dance. It's a place where you are encouraged to learn, a place where you are encouraged to fall flat on your face and then get back up to do it all again, and a place where you get to go everyday surrounded by some amazing faculty and students.”
