Hannah Hawkins
Chemistry Instrument Analyst
Bio:
Hannah Hawkins earned a bachelor's degree in Chemistry from Northern Michigan University in 2018 - Go Cats! She continued on to graduate school at Birkbeck, University of London, where she earned a Master's of Research in Chemical Research in 2019. Her research focused on enzyme kinetics for the cleavage of peptide bonds by ∝-Chymotrypsin, when encapsulated by lipid vesicle-based nanoreactors. After graduation, she began working at BASF Coatings, formulating automotive paint for the Ford Bronco, before transitioning into analytical chemistry. She then focused on analytical instrumentation, specific to cannabis compliance testing per state regulations. Hannah is taking over upkeep of the analytical instrumentation here at NMU, and is looking forward to getting students involved in instrument maintenance.
