Mission Critical Systems
Business Intelligence and Information Technology is responsible for supporting 5 mission-critical systems. In addition, we provide day-to-day support for 93 in-house developed apps and 61 purchased systems and modules. The 5 mission-critical systems are as follows:
1. Learning Management System (EduCat)
A learning platform that provides educators, administrators, and learners with a single, robust, secure, and integrated learning environment.
2. Enterprise Resource Platform (Banner)
Ellucian is the vendor for Banner, the university's enterprise resource planning (ERP) system. The university operates the Finance, Human Resource, Student, Alumni and Advancement, Workflow and Document Imaging modules. For resources about the switch to Banner 9, click here.
3. Educational Access Network
The NMU Educational Access Network is a best-effort LTE service provided by Northern Michigan University without data caps or reduced speeds. At NMU, we believe the cost and coverage of broadband internet service shouldn't stop access to learning.
4. Analytics (Cognos and Tableau)
Cognos is the vendor for the University's standard reporting tools, Report Studio, Analysis Studio and Query Studio. Standard administrative reports have been developed for university managers and are accessible at: http://cognosbi.nmu.edu
5. Customer Relationship Management (Student Recruiting with Salesforce)
A platform and related tools for building and managing relationships with constituent including digital marketing (via email, personalized web sites, and SMS messaging), artificial intelligence, on-demand print, and social media management.
