Northern Michigan University is accredited by the Higher Learning Commission (HLC).
NMU is currently accredited on the HLC Open Pathway, but was previously on HLC's now-retired Academic Quality Improvement Program (AQIP) method of accreditation. NMU participated in AQIP from 2002 until August 2018.
