Programmatic Accreditation
Northern's institutional accreditation assures that overall, the University meets the highest standards as an institution of higher education. In addition to accreditation by the Higher Learning Commission, many specific programs of study are also accredited by external agencies.

State Licensure Requirements
Some programs at NMU are designed to lead to professions that require licensure. These academic programs prepare students to meet Michigan requirements. For some professions, different states have different licensure requirements. Departments that offer programs that lead to licensure have assembled information about whether our programs meet other states' licensing or certification academic requirements. This information can be found by going to the Academic Affairs "Colleges and Schools" page, expanding the unit and, where relevant, clicking the "Licensure Disclosure" link.
