BSN and DNP Accreditation Status

The Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) and Doctor of Nursing Practice (DNP) programs at Northern Michigan University are accredited by the Commission on Collegiate Nursing Education, 655 K Street NW, Suite 750, Washington, DC 20001, 202-887-6791.

CCNE Board of Commissioners acted at its meeting on October 12-15, 2021 to grant accreditation to the BSN and DNP programs at Northern Michigan University for 10 years, extending to December 31, 2031. The accreditation action is effective as of February 8, 2021, which is the first day of the program’s recent CCNE evaluation.


MSN Accreditation Status

The Master of Science in Nursing (MSN) Family Nurse Practitioner (FNP) program is in the process of being reviewed for initial accreditation by the Commission on Collegiate Nursing Education (CCNE). The program hosted a team of CCNE onsite visitors in September 2022. 

The team report will be provided both to the Accreditation Review Committee (ARC) and to the CCNE Board of Commissioners. The ARC will meet in Spring 2023 and make a confidential recommendation to the Board. The accreditation decision will be made by the Board at its meeting in Spring 2023.
