About the Team
The NMU Women's Hockey Team was established in 2000. We are a member of the CCWHA (Central Collegiate Women's Hockey Association) Division II, which includes Michigan State University, University of Michigan - Flint, University of Notre Dame, Aquinas College, Loyola University of Chicago, Central Michigan University, and Adrian College and Miami-Ohio. We are also a part of the ACHA (American Collegiate Hockey Association) which is an organization of over 415 college and university affiliated programs that provides structure, regulates operations, and promotes the quality of collegiate ice hockey. In addition to playing teams within our conference, we also schedule games against other Division I and II programs within the CCWHA/ACHA D1 teams.
Details
Dues: Dues are around $2000 depending on the number of players each year. This covers all ice time, conference/league dues, and referees in addition to transportation and lodging. However, players are expected to purchase team warm-ups, team pant covers and pay for their meals on road trips. Members are also required to keep the Student Recreation Fee that is included in tuition and fees as it is required both Fall and Winter semesters.
Participants Must Supply: All of their own hockey equipment. Each player is required to have a black helmet, and green or black gloves. Jerseys and socks are provided by the team.
Travel: Generally includes Lower Michigan, Wisconsin, Illinois, and Minnesota. The team occasionally travels on Fridays, so if possible we recommend that players do not schedule Friday classes.
INTEREST MEETING PEIF Rm 242 August 31st at 6 p.m.
Tryouts: Official tryouts are typically held during the first week of school on Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday evening. Each skate will be held at the Berry Events Center located near the PEIF and Superior Dome. It is asked that if you plan to attend, to please bring your class schedule for fall and a work schedule if you have one, so that dry land groups and times can be determined.
