Giordano Dance Chicago Masterclass: July 23, 2025 at 6:30 PM in the Forest Roberts Theatre Stage
PRE-REGISTRATION FOR DANCE PARTICIPATION REQUIRED BY 7/21/25. REGISTER HERE.
Please join NMU Theatre and Dance, North Coast Dance Festival, and the Siril Endowment for the Arts for a jazz dance class and talkback led by Nan Giordano of Giordano Dance Chicago on Wednesday, July 23rd from 6:30-8:00PM in the Forest Roberts Theatre! This class will be open to dancers ages 13 and up with at least 5 years of previous formal dance training or at least one year of formal university dance training. We welcome observers of any age into the theatre to experience the joy of the Giordano Technique! There is no fee for participation or observation of this class! Pre-registration for class participation will close on Monday, July 21st at 5:00PM EST. Class size is limited--registering early is encouraged.
4th Annual Dance Festival
Join us for the 4th Annual North Coast Dance Festival, a spectacular celebration of dance! Professional dancers from across the country will gather alongside the NMU CO/LAB Dance Company for engaging educational experiences and mesmerizing performances. Don't miss this unforgettable event filled with grace, talent, and artistry.
We are thrilled to welcome Giordano Dance Chicago back this summer to perform two new, exciting jazz dance pieces choreographed by Al Blackstone and Ray Leeper. We will also welcome back Ballet Project OC, who will be performing the pas de deux from George Balanchine's Stars and Stripes and Ally Helman's Pitseleh. NMU's CO/LAB Dance Company will preview a new work by Karina Johnson set to the music of Johnny Cash.
This event is generously supported by the Siril Endowment for the Arts.

Cast Bios
George Brous- Originally from Ocean City, Maryland, began his dance training at Seaside Dance Academy. He went on to earn his Bachelor of Fine Arts in Dance and a minor in Business Administration from the University of Arizona. George has worked with Dance One's Power Pak as a team leader for numerous years.
Joshua Brumm- Originally from Lake Geneva WI, is an alumnus of the University of Wisconsin-Stevens Point. He had the privilege of traveling the Mediterranean and Caribbean on the Explorer of The Seas.
Amanda Hickey-Newcom- Originally from Hanover Park, Illinois. She began her training at Faubourg School of Ballet and went on to graduate with honors from Butler University, earning a Bachelor of Fine Arts in Dance Performance.
Adam Houston- Rehearsal Captain, originally from Boone, Iowa. He graduated Magna Cum Laude from the University of Arizona with a Bachelor of Fine Arts in Dance and received the School of Dance’s “Outstanding Senior” award.
Sasha Lazarus- Originally from Delray Beach, Florida, received her training at Boca Ballet Theatre. She was a soloist with Menlowe Ballet and currently teaches Jazz at the Joffrey Academy of Dance.
Talia Luzzo- A native of Paxton, Massachusetts, began her dance training at The Charlotte Klein Dance Centers. She went on to earn a BFA in Dance and a BA in Communications from the University of Arizona.
Sydney Priestly- Sydney was raised in Atlanta, Georgia. She attended Pebblebrook High School, training in the performing arts program at the Cobb County Center for Excellence in the Performing Arts. Sydney went on to earn her BFA in Commercial Dance from Pace University.
Fernando Rodriguez- Fernando Rodriguez is originally from Fort Gratiot, Michigan. He studied at Grand Valley State University. His diverse performance career includes River North Dance Chicago, Cerqua Rivera Dance Theatre, Grand Rapids Ballet Company, and the Paramount Theatre’s West Side Story.
Simon Schuh- Simon Schuh is a graduate of The Chicago Academy for the Arts High School and Glorya Kaufman School of Dance, where he trained under William Forsythe and Jodie Gates. Simon joined ODC/Dance and later accepted an invitation to perform Alexander Ekman’s Cacti with Klaipėda Ballet Theatre in Lithuania.
Erina Ueda- Originally from Nagoya, Japan and raised in Chandler, Arizona, proudly holds the distinction of being Giordano Dance Chicago’s first Asian female company dancer. In 2024, she was named one of Dance Magazine’s “25 to Watch.” She graduated Summa Cum Laude from the University of Arizona in 2021 with a BFA in Dance and a minor in Psychology. Beyond the stage, she coaches private lessons for dancers competing in Youth America Grand Prix and Dance One.
Analysse Vance- Analysse Vance is originally from Springfield, Illinois, where she began her dance training at Dance Arts Studio and with the Springfield Ballet Company. She still returns to Springfield as a guest artist with Copper Coin Ballet Company. Analysse graduated from the University of Arizona with a Bachelor of Fine Arts in Dance and BSBA in Marketing.
Eduardo Zambrana- Originally from Santa Cruz de la Sierra, Bolivia, holds an MFA in Choreography and Performance from the University of Arizona. He earned 1st place at the Red Rock ScreenDance Film Festival, with commissions including sitespecific works such as Frank Lloyd Wright’s Taliesin West, and Florence Dance on Screen in Florence, Italy.

Gus Giordano’s dedication to jazz dance exhibited itself in all facets of his extraordinary life: dancer, master teacher, choreographer, author, and founder of the Giordano Dance School (GDS) in Evanston, Illinois, founder of the dance company Giordano Dance Chicago and founder of Jazz Dance World Congress.

Nan Giordano:
At the helm for 41 years, Nan’s leadership of Giordano Dance Chicago began in 1985 as Associate Director, and in 1993 was appointed the title of Artistic Director. Nan was trained by her father and mentor, Gus Giordano.

Erica Lynette Edwards (she/her) is an accomplished change leader with demonstrated success as an arts administrator, consultant, and public speaker. She is honored to serve as GDC’s Executive Director.

Cesar G. Salinas, originally from Portland, Oregon, was named Associate Artistic Director for Giordano Dance Chicago at the start of the 60th Anniversary Season.
