Vocal Audition FAQ:
For vocal auditions come prepared with a 90-second song and monologue combined (suggested song cutting: 16-32 bars).
Sign up for a 3 minute time slot!
A speaker and auxiliary cable will be provided for those auditioning with a karaoke track.
For song selection, a song cutting from a Musical Theatre selection is preferred. We want to see a song you can act through - show us your range of emotions in your selections.
If a youth is very young or inexperienced they can come with only a song cutting for their audition.
We prefer a song cutting and monologue, or song cutting and a short poem that they memorize and act out but we understand that it can be intimidating to do all of that on the first try! We want to see how youth interpret text and how they bring a character to life in their audition.
If you are using an instrumental karaoke track, please bring your phone and any adapter that you may need just in case.
If you are using sheet music:
We will have an accompanist available on January 5 from 6-7pm. If you plan to use an accompanist, please sign up for an audition slot during that time frame!
Make sure it is in the proper key and clearly marked with start and end points.
Please send your sheet music as an attachment to wizard@saytheater.org with “[AUDITIONEE NAME] - Wizard Audition Sheet Music” in the subject line by January 1, 2025!
If you are unable to attend vocal auditions please turn in an audition video via email to wizard@saytheater.org prior to January 4th. YOU WILL STILL NEED TO FILL OUT AN AUDITION FORM if you cannot attend.

Dance Call/Audition Instructions
All auditionees must attend a dance call/audition.
Monday, January 6 - at the Forest Roberts Theater - Check in the FRT Lobby
6:00-7:30pm - Beginner - Click here to prep for the beginner dance call
7:45-9:00pm - Intermediate/Advanced - Click here to prep for the Intermediate/Advanced Dance Call
Youth may audition for a DANCE ONLY role, or a full production role.
Please note, dance only means you will not be given lines or sing in the production. For a dance only role youth only need to attend a dance call, and a possible callback (if they are on the list).
A short dance combination will be taught during the audition.
Please wear comfortable clothes, jazz shoes, or non-street shoes that you can move in, with hair pulled back away from your face.
If you are unable to attend the dance call please contact us - you will be required to learn the dance from the videos and submit a video to: wizard@saytheater.org prior to auditions.
Callback Instructions
ONLY THOSE LISTED on the callback list should attend callbacks.
The callback list will be emailed out after dance call auditions!
Tuesday, January 7 - 5:30-9:00pm in the Black Box Theater - Check in McClintock 106
At callbacks youth will be given scenes and taught songs to perform for the artistic team with other actors who are attending callbacks.
