What is the Direct Admissions Program?

Through this program, you'll be admitted to NMU while you're enrolled at GCC and won’t be required to submit an application to NMU in the future!

Experience a seamless transition from GCC to NMU and become a part of the NMU community right away! Here’s how:

Receive NMU advising during your time at GCC to support your transfer
Access NMU services and support
Attend NMU sporting events and theatre productions at student pricing
Receive one free official transcript sent directly from GCC to NMU

It’s easy! When you submit your application to GCC, simply check the box to indicate you’re interested in the Direct Admissions program with NMU, and you’ll automatically be admitted to NMU while you’re enrolled at GCC.

Already enrolled at GCC? Reach out to us at transfer@nmu.edu to let us know you're interested in the Direct Admission program, and we will work with you from there!

Shortly after the start of your first semester at GCC, you’ll receive a “Welcome” email from NMU confirming your enrollment in the program.

At that point, we’ll get you more information on your next steps - the first being setting up your advising meeting with NMU!

In this meeting, we’ll discuss important transfer planning resources, how to access NMU advising support and benefits, and other important details regarding the Direct Admission Program.
