Assistant Director of Admissions, Southeast Lower Michigan
Hometown: Warren, MI
Professional/personal biography: I started my undergraduate experience at a small private university in Columbus Ohio, Capital University but ultimately graduated with a Bachelor of Arts in Political Science and a focus in Pre-Law from University of Detroit Mercy in 2002. After graduating I immediately sat for the LSAT exam and started applying for law school. Once I arrived at law school I decided after one semester this is not what I want to do with the rest of my life. I began to work on my MBA at University of Detroit Mercy and entered the work force where I started in sales and marketing as a team leader. I then moved into the financial arena where I began working for medium and large sized credit unions as a Lending Manager and Credit Card Portfolio Manager. I spent about 10 years in the credit union world and loved it. I really had an opportunity to help people and make a positive impact in their financial lives. After 10 years of credit union service I felt that I needed a change. I wanted to continue to help individuals meet their needs and life goals and that is how I found higher education.
Most memorable college experience: My most memorable college experiences have got to be all of the time I spent with my friends on campus, from the late night movies to hanging out in the dorm halls. This was where I met many of my life-long friends. I also would say looking back that I grew up on campus I learned to take care of things on my own. This was a time that I will forever treasure.
Favorite Marquette activity: My favorite activity in Marquette is to find a new spot I haven’t eaten at yet. I am a foodie and always looking for the next great spot to get a great meal and try something new.
Best advice you received regarding college or would give someone else entering college: The best advice I could give someone entering college is to visit every campus you are interested in attending or have been accepted to because once you visit that campus you will know if it is the right place for you. Everyone is unique and you should visit the schools you are interested in before you sign up for that first class.
