Kirsten Menigoz

Assistant Director of Admissions, Northern/Central Wisconsin Office - First Year and Transfer Students

Hometown:

Ontonagon Michigan. Although I grew up in San Diego, I have called the Upper Peninsula home for nearly 30 years.

Professional/Personal Biography:

I graduated from San Diego State University in 1990 with a degree in Psychology. Shortly thereafter I moved to the Upper Peninsula of Michigan, a place I have loved my entire  life. I began working with students through the courts and the local schools, until  2005 when I  received my Masters Degree in Education from Northern Michigan University. I then became a High School Guidance Counselor working with students in my local area before joining the admissions team at NMU. I am a mother and wife and love to spend time with my family and friends. I love hiking, biking, cross country and downhill skiing, as well as yoga, cooking and traveling. I am privileged to be a part of this wonderful community in the Upper Peninsula and love sharing its beauty with perspective students.

Most Memorable College Experience:

My most memorable college experiences involve living with and bonding with friends. The highlight being when my best friend and I backpacked through Europe for six weeks during the summer of our junior year.

Favorite Marquette Activity:

Most definitely eating. Marquette is home to some of my most favorite restaurants. I love the beach, the trails, and the people. Such a cool vibe!

Advice to Students:

Put yourself out there. Have enthusiasm for all you do and get involved. You never know where your experiences may lead you.
